Books On "Diabetes"
Once again, new statistics on diabetes is shocking. According to a recent report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 79 million American adults have prediabetes. This is roughly one-third of the of the U.S. adult population. Prediabetes is a condition whereby blood sugar levels are elevated above normal, but not high enough to be considered diabetes. Those with prediabetes have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, not to mention heart disease and stroke. However, prediabetes is a potentially reversible condition if lifestyle changes, including diet and exercise, are made. The CDC believes that if current trends persist, 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes by the middle of this century.
