Draw Up A Marketing Plan With Promotional Pencils

Promotional gifts are an essential part of any successful marketing strategy and personalized pencils are one of the most cost effective of all of them. They are light in weight, small in size and low cost making them ideal for mass mailings. They are more robust than the usual ballpens and you know that they will always work.

Traditionally pencils have been made from wood with a graphite core which forms the writing tip when the pencil is sharpened. They are usually round or hexagonal and can be purchased with or without erasers attached. A vast array of painted colours and finishes are available and there is bound to be one that matches your company image. Printing options range from single spot colours to full colour photographic quality reproductions.

Some pencils are designed for specific jobs and it is a good idea to consider this when targeting your customer base. For those with an interest in golf, for example, there are half size pencils which are ideal for carrying around and filling in score cards.

People in the building trade will recognise the distinctive flat profile of the carpenters pencil but this style has many advantages in the promotional gifts arena as it provides a much larger flat printing area and it will not roll away and be lost.

With current trends towards making a more environmentally friendly statement, pencils are now being produced using recycled paper, plastics and sustainably sourced materials that are also biodegradable. Associating your business with this type of product is a sensible option in this day and age.

If you like the idea of promotional pencils but feel they are not prestigious enough to represent you company, then there are a whole range of mechanical pencils to choose from. Mechanical pencils consist of a barrel made from a choice of materials such as plastic or metal housing a replaceable graphite stick. This makes them much longer lasting and they can be produced in the same styles as some of the most expensive pens.

Metal mechanical pencils are available in natural gold or silver finishes or they can be lacquered in a variety of colours and when decorated using laser engraving they will make excellent executive gifts. An even better idea would be to pair them with a matching pen in a smart presentation case to create the ultimate promotional gift or staff incentive.

Other types of pencils include sets of coloured pencils and rainbow pencils which are ideal for promotions involving schools and children. Pencil cases, erasers and rulers are handy companion items for pencils and they can all be personalised with your company branding for extra impact.

Hopefully I have gone some way to showing the versatility of pencils when used in advertising campaigns. In recent years pens have been the number one choice for promotional gifts but I would contend that the strong association with creativity and design that pencils have makes them an even better choice...
