From the Author
After more than a decade in the human resources field, including work as a college recruiter, I kept seeing the same things over and over again with our recent high school and college graduates. Our new hires were bright in their subject matter fields, but they were often missing some critical life skills, or soft skills, that are necessary to be successful over the long haul.
It occurred to me that many of these skills aren't being taught in the classroom. In fact, many of us learned these skills in the "school of hard knocks." Rather than expecting these young professionals to know everything as they enter the workforce, I decided to write this guidebook, with the input of several other business professionals, to equip them with the skills necessary to be successful.

A Must Read for Students, Career Counselors and Teachers
By Michelle, Frederick MD
This book is really relevant and important for young professionals looking for their first career. Amanda Haddaway leverages her own experiences and experts in order to provide the reader with a practical, essential guide to success in the "Real World." As a workforce development professional as well as an adjunct community college faculty member, I find this guide to be extremely valuable for students and others who need to be "in the know" about success in the workplace and in life! The book bridges a gap that has existed among educators, students and employers. Amanda communicates in one or two page-chapters essential information and tips on employer expectations, how to be a renter, how to dress for success, and how to, once hired, remain an indispensable employee! I wish I had a copy of it after I graduated!
