4Excellent Landscaping Book
By Alan Kelley
I compared several landscaping books before buying this one. I viewed them in bookstores and at home depot. This one has excellent ideas and instructions, and I especially like the photographs which are very detailed and add clarity to the instructions with visual aids. I am very happy with my purchase.

5Sufficiently Breathless
By Larry Jaques
I've always been impressed with the clarity of Black & Decker books, and this one is no exception. The many photos display each task described in the brief text to show you exactly what they're talking about. Diagrammed cutaway photos of the project show you all the layers involved in a beautifully clear way. It shows you the proper way to lay a walk or bed pavers, using sand and gravel bedding underneath. Once you have the book in hand, it's hard _not_ to run out and start several projects at once, leaving you...sufficiently breathless. I said the text was brief (a couple pages per project task) but it's enough. B&D's authors did their homework and the result is a great book.

One cautionary note, though: This book makes the projects seem easy, but this is one of the hardest, most body-taxing hobbies you can take up. If you're not in perfect shape physically, you might want to check with your doctor before, say, manually hauling twelve thousand pounds of soil or stone around your yard. Other than that, have fun!
