Consistency Counts

When I researched great bosses I found all sorts of personal styles that worked for the bosses who used them. You need to be yourself. The hard part is being a consistent version of yourself, every day in every situation, all day long.

Remember this. Uncertainty is a morale and productivity killer. Your team members need to know how you'll react to news, both good and bad. They need to know how you'll respond to their ideas and suggestions. If they have to guess which version of you will show up this time, they'll just shut down.
