Book Gave Me Courage
By R. Mann
In running my own businesses for about 15 years I have always had a hard time firing key employees. I always give them the benefit of the doubt when in my heart I know there is some dishonesty. I have found that dishonesty seems to accompany poor performance.
Leadership Without Excuses gave me the courage to proceed with terminating a manager whom I once was grooming to succeed me. It was hard, as I knew his family and went to his wedding. But, in my heart I knew he was continually lying and not letting his team reach its potential.
I read the book and knew I had an incorrigible Sinner. That sealed it. I then proceeded to document my case and now that he is gone a weight has been released from my shoulders. He has been replaced with a much stronger internal promotion. The whole team is happier and I sleep better.
I recommend this book to leaders who have been too soft, compassionate or vague to make hard decisions or pronouncements.

A must read for all leaders and mentors......
By M. Kaner
Leadership Without Excuses differentiates itself from other books on this topic because I could truly relate to every word I was reading! Jeff and Gregg have significant experience across many industries and leaders in the real world. They are both avid learners and experienced trainers who make this book better than the others I have read. They have worked with real people one-on-one to help them improve their leadership and those lessons and experiences make this book extremely valuable.
If you're looking for an informed, practical and effective way to accelerate your own leadership development, you should buy, read, and use Leadership Without Excuses. This is also a good book for you if you're responsible for the leadership development program in an organization or for the development of a mentee.

Just when you thought you read it all.......
By L. Oller
Even the best leaders will be convicted of personal excuses vs. accountability. This is recommended reading for every management team. What a great way to get everyone on the same page! Chapter eight is a read and then read again, on a subject seldom covered; "Wield Your Biggest Stick: The Power To Take Things Away. Follow that with "Whet The Appetite For Truth" and you have some powerful coaching tools. I wish this book had been available years ago.....
